No Maltese hurt in Libya refinery blaze

(Photo: George Ebejer)

No Maltese oil workers have been hurt in a major fire which has been raging since Wednesday at Libya's biggest oil refinery and oil storage facility.

The fire, at state-owned Ras Lanuf, near Tripoli, has forced Libya to reduce oil shipments.

The blaze started during maintenance works. Maltese worker George Ebejer said the fire spread to a discharge area.

Maltese Ambassador Joseph Cassar said no Maltese were hurt and the fire had now been contained.

Here we go again .... reporting that "no Maltese are hurt", without even mentioning whether or not there were any injuries at all.

Readers may be interested to note that - according to the Herald Tribune (http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/08/20/africa/ME-Libya-Oil-Fire.php ) - there were no injuries as a result of the blaze..
