Strike threat may force changes to UK-bound flights

Air Malta said yesterday there is the possibility of changes in flights to UK airports because of a strike threat at London's Gatwick and Stansted airports on Monday and Tuesday, and at Manchester airport on Wednesday and September 1.

The dispute at Swissport, the airline's ground handlers at these airports, may be extended to other UK airdromes.

Air Malta plans to operate flights to the respective airports on these dates but it is making contingency arrangements to re-route the Gatwick and Stansted flights to Luton and the Manchester flight to Liverpool should the need arise. Details about any changes to the schedule and routes of the affected flights will be communicated to the public in the coming days.

Flights will operate as per normal schedule and to the original airport if the strike is withdrawn.
