The Labour Party said it was unacceptable that elderly people being cared for in residences and places such as St Luke's Hospital, which lack care facilities, are made to feel like "second-class citizens".

Labour spokesman on Social Policy Michael Farrugia appealed to the government to make the necessary investment to bring the service and care provided at St Luke's up to a standard similar to that provided at Zammit Clapp Hospital.
