I am not the fussy type that complains about foreign talent, as I generally feel elated by their musical whims and relish the occasional, albeit odious comparisons with Maltese turntable spinners. But at 30 a comment seems to be imperative.
Unprofessionalism abounds. Not only did Above and Beyond start really late, but they had to cut their performance short, visibly annoyed as it were, trying to re-start their act soon after being asked to stop the music to the ticking of the 4 a.m. time-bomb; they had to succumb to quite an embarrassing situation to the eyes of fans like me... I wanted to see them, and them only. Above and Beyond go truly above and beyond. I paid to see them play, to cherish their performance, to get a good vibe.
It did not happen for me, a trance music lover. I am truly disappointed. To add insult to injury, during their performance an advert of an upcoming Tiesto event was forcibly shown to the crowd. This mockery ended when one of the team members from Above and Beyond angrily asked the event organiser to take the Tiesto ads from the screens. I paid good money to see a full performance from a super star act; Above and Beyond performed to a crowd of a million people in Rio de Janeiro, only to come here and be embarrassed and for us followers to be disappointed by an - for the want of a better word - unprofessional Maltese event producer.
Surely it didn't leave me and hundreds of others with any fresh feeling.
