The corpse of a woman found in the sea at the bottom of Dingli Cliffs yesterday morning has been identified as that of a Birkirkara woman aged 50.

Her name was not disclosed by the police.

The Armed Forces of Malta said she was spotted floating face down in the water in the early hours by a man who was out fishing. The man informed the AFM whose patrol boat recovered the corpse a few metres from the shore. The body was handed over to the police.

The police said an autopsy will be held this morning to establish the cause of death but gave no further details.
