Prime Minister puts ultimatum to AD's general secretary on hold
The Office of the Prime Minister has put on hold an ultimatum from the Management and Personnel Office to Victor Galea, general secretary of Alternattiva Demokratika, in which he was told that his teaching post in a state school is incompatible with his political position and he has to choose between the two.
A spokesman for the Prime Minister told The Times that the letter to Mr Galea and to two officials of Azzjoni Nazzjonali was issued without the knowledge of the Prime Minister or his secretariate.
They first learned about the letters when they received questions about them from a newspaper.
The two AN officials, Tonio Mercieca and Mary Gauci, a senior principal and a principal in the public service respectively, have since resigned their political posts while Mr Galea, a teacher, protested, claiming discrimination.
"Somebody decided to go by the book and issued a letter to Mr Galea and the other two, without questioning whether this made sense in this day and age."
"The Office of the Prime Minister has issued instructions for the letter to be suspended and for the position to be reviewed. There are several other people who hold positions in the public service and also occupy political positions," the spokesman said.

jfarrugia..Come on...enlighten us....
Who requests(in your own words) your contributions?
Yesterday we had two totally different people writing exactly the same sentence in my regard....
And now you almost confirm my suspicions...
Are you part of something bigger I wonder...
The conspiracy thickens...

So...are you saying that you are REQUESTED to write on these blogs? By whom I wonder....
You are right, I am not requested, commissioned, or ordered to write here.
I just like doing so.
As for the tie myself with ropes bit...well..if you can rewrite that phrase in unjumbled English, I might comprehend what you're trying to say.

@Mark then give the vote to all 8 year olds! Since they think much better than you do.
@ JJCamilleri. You're just like a jack in the box... always thumbling up when you're not requested. Why not tie around yourself some ropes and when I damgle these ropes, you just jump? You would certainly be funny, more than the Jack in the Box.

@ J. Farrugia.
Politics is everyone's business. An average 8 year-old child understands this.
What's your brilliantly insightful explanation of this story?

If this somebody has taken the initiative and done his duty (even if it is by the Book) is this not political interference by the PM? It has become a habit for PM to revers action taken by civil service in order to placate criticism. This is taken by many as undermining the moral of those few civil servants who still have some moral taste for work.

Sensible decision by Gonzi (the only possible decision in fact). The key question is: who actually instigated this move in the first place? Stinks of party political interference in state business to me. Victor Galea has been a thorn in the Ministry of Gozo's side for some years now. Am sure the Gozo PN would love to find a way to neutralise him.

Whether the Prime Minister knew beforehand or not, his decision was a good one.
it is now time for the major parties to get together and fix this anomaly, in the name of democracy.

As usual.. the Prime Minister claims that he knew nothing about it! What a farce!
