Residents thankful for Paceville alcohol ban

It was with great relief that through this highly esteemed daily I have come to know of the new bye-law banning alcoholic drinking in Paceville streets.
I happen to be a resident of the once Paceville Avenue, now Paceville Street.
This is a big step forward towards safeguarding the tranquillity of residents, most of us in an advanced age, who especially during Friday-Saturday nights and then even worse on Saturday-Sunday nights have to sacrifice our night's rest and be able to go to sleep only at about four in the morning.
And these last days it has become constant during the whole seven days of the week.
But has enough been done? In my opinion, the police are to make sure that the signs prohibiting drinking in Paceville streets are also exposed in visible places even in the bars themselves, or even better outside the premises, so that those going in to buy with the aim of drinking out in the street, as has been the habit, know that now that practice is prohibited. Although it seems that this is a law, many have still not adhered. The police need to take action.
Regarding the sale of alcoholic drinks to those who are underage, a helping hand should also come from those associations who have been instituted for the purpose of preventing such a practice, and the police must insist with bartenders who break the law that this is a real crime.
My sincere thanks go to the MTA, and let me say well done to parliamentary secretary Mario de Marco!
