Obituary
CALLUS. On August 17, JANE, aged 64, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss her beloved children Gabriel and his fiancée Stephanie, Catherine and her husband John, her grandsons John and Christopher, all her relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, tomorrow at 1.45 p.m. for St Peter's parish church, Birżebbuġa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
COURT - JOHN HENRY COURT, FCA. Died last Thursday evening at home in Xagħra, Gozo. The funeral takes place tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Santa Maria Cemetery, Xagħra, Gozo. All who wish to pay their respects are welcome. No flowers please - if you wish to make a donation in John's memory make it to either the Gozo branch of the SPCA, or to Xagħra church for their kindness in offering a prayer service for a good and honourable man who lived by ecumenical Christian standards.
EGERTON-WILLIAMS. Peacefully, at Villa Messina, Rabat, KATHLEEN (Katie), widow of Lt. Commander James Anthony Egerton-Williams, after a long illness bravely borne, in her 88th year, beloved mother of Bourke who deeply mourns her together with her sister Patricia Corbett and her children, her other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Villa Messina today at 10.30 a.m. for St Paul's Anglican Cathedral, Valletta, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. We thank God for her life and love.

Anglo-Italian Cultural Relations
The University of Malta's Institute of Anglo-Italian Studies will be hosting the Sixth International Conference on Britain and Italy: Literary and Cultural Relations, in the last week of September.
Speakers, all experts in the field, will come from Britain, Italy and Malta as well as from other parts of Europe. The programme covers multiple facets of the Anglo-Italian cultural rapport over the centuries and also looks at the all important aspect of travel.
The Institute of Anglo-Italian Studies set up in 1988 also publishes the Journal of Anglo-Italian Studies which is listed in the Modern Languages Association Directory of Learned Journals and has established itself as one of the leading journals in this interdisciplinary field of studies.
Meeting on qualifications framework
The Malta Qualifications Council will hold an information meeting on the European Qualifications Framework at its premises in 16/18, Tower Promenade, St Luċija on September 3 at 8.30 a.m.
The meeting is aimed at parents associations' representatives from state, private and Church schools.

Registration, which costs €15, covers the printed material handed out during the meeting. Registration is on a first come first served basis and is limited to 30 participants.
Ramla Fun Fair Postponed
The Friends of the Sick and the Elderly in Gozo apologised for postponing their fundraising Fun Fair at Ramla on August 16. The event has being re-scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Mass for Gozo professionals
The Gozitan Graduates Movement invites graduates and members of all professions in Gozo for first Friday of the month Mass at St Augustine's Church,Victoria on September 5 at 8.30. Mass will be celebrated by Fr Mark Demanuele and is held at a late time to encourage graduates and members of the professions to accept this opportunity and get to hear a homily especially directed at them.
It has been decided that, during this special year, themes should be taken from the teachings of St Paul.
The choice is Unity With Christ, based on verses 38 and 39 of chapter eight from the letter to the Romans.
Support scheme for film-makers launched
A scheme providing financial assistance for the development and production of documentaries and short films was launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, yesterday. The fund amounts to €233,000.
Companies registered in Malta whose primary activity is the production of audiovisual works are eligible to apply for funds under the scheme. The deadline for applications is October 24.
An information session for prospective applicants will be held at St James Cavalier, Valletta, tomorrow between 3 and 5 p.m. Booking by e-mail on filmfund@gov.mt. Guidelines and applications can be downloaded from www.education.gov.mt/filmfund.htm.
University staff raise funds
The University of Malta Community Welfare Committee recently organised an Employee And Family Day raising €2,445 in aid of the Daniel Delicata Memorial Association and Puttinu Cares.
The aim was to foster a team spirit among academic and support staff of the University, and to raise funds for sick Maltese children being treated at Mater Dei Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. The evening included sports and music. A Mass was followed by a BBQ.
