Maltese artist in Germany
Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci during the workshop in Regensburg, Germany.
Artist Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci is currently taking part in a workshop-exhibition in Regensburg, Germany with a group of other painters from Austria, Belgium, Romania, France, Slovenia and Bulgaria.
The convention runs until the end of this month on the theme Water And Wine. The miracle of Cana, when Christ turned water into wine, has been taken further by Dr Schembri Bonaci to signify the passage from death to life. He opted for the biblical account as a source of challenge and inspiration.
The workshop-exhibition is being held at the City.
Gallery Leerer Beutel, Regensburg and is curated by Renate Christin.

WATER is the classical yardstick for Life, the purifier, the lifesaver, the basic food for our existence:this in Many Holy Books including The Bible,The Holy Geeta, The Quaran [ Koran ], Buddha`s Teachings, and so forth. Without water,Man will not survive - Let Water be the basic food for the human body.Similarly with the Animal & Mammal Kingdoms. So what is this theory and who is interpreting it that WATER = DEATH & WINE = LIFE......when WINE is synonimous with Destruction,Drunkness, and an Unruly existence. Or is this some sort of Artistic Licence to attempt to convey an idea that goes against basic , logical, spiritual and scriptural interpretations ? It is well that you emphasize that is an Artists` Convention which in common parliance signifies that anything goes as long as they satisfy their egos, but then let us not attempt to turn upside down that what is scientifically, realistically and spiritually accepted that Water is the balancing Act of Human Logic and Behaviour.Heavy Wine Drinkers I know are in their unconscious drunken state a despicable state of humanity and dangerous creatures to the logical sections of their fellow members of the human race.Hence here we had an Inspirational Challenge verging on Desperation!

So 'Giuseppi' has got over his earlier preoccupation with Perestroika and Glasnost and graduated to art . . . by way of a very interesting production of Lady Macbeth in the mid-nineties . . . . wasn't he a qualified Lawyer in an earlier life??
