Hands-on experience for prospective vet
A young Scottish girl who is aiming to become a vet has been helping out at the Abandoned Animal Association (AAA) dog sanctuary in Luqa.
Francesca Wood, 15 from Glasgow, today ends a six-week stay combining a holiday with training in animal care.
"Where else can you get such hands-on experience if not at the sanctuary," she said yesterday as she accompanied Alfred Fenech from the AAA to The Times offices with some puppies which he is trying to home. The puppies were found roaming in Qawra.
AAA's volunteers have a stand at Sliema (near The Fortizza) daily from 5 to 10 p.m. and at Bay Street, Paceville during the whole day on Fridays.
Mr Fenech can be contacted on 9946 4182.

At this time of summer, when the heat is on, literally, ... and free of charge ... :-) I wish to remind the gentle readers that there are a few people out there, toiling away at their voluntary work with stray animals.... in sanctuaries as well as cat colonies all over the island.
As they say, no peace for the wicked!
