Double digit growth for Air Malta
Results and outlook for July, August, also positive
Air Malta said today that it was the driving force behind the increase in tourism arrivals registered this year, with 57 percent of the 77,000 additional tourists who came to Malta in the first half of this year using the airline.
In June, Air Malta continued to register the same double digit growth recorded over the last eight months, increasing its traffic by 13 per cent.
Chief officer commercial Brock Friesen said, “We are building on the positive results registered last winter, when, for the first time in its history, Air Malta transported over half a million passengers. In the first half of the year the Maltese airline has yet again consolidated its position as the preferred airline amongst visitors from all European countries of origin.
Dr Friesen said that figures released this month by the Association of European Airlines also confirmed that Air Malta was one of the few European airlines that registered double digit growth from January to June this year. The industry figures confirmed that in the first six months of the year, Air Malta transported 14.6 per cent more passengers.
Dr Friesen attributed the achievement to the continuous refinement of pricing policies, aggressive international advertising and successful direct selling on the airline’s portal www.airmalta.com.
He said the Maltese tourism industry was strongly benefiting from Air Malta’s traffic growth. The results and outlook for July and August were also quite positive, although double digit growth figures were not projected.
Air Malta was also actively pursuing other off-line markets. The existing code-share agreements with Lufthansa, Air One, and Turkish Airlines would be further consolidated with other airline partners in the next few months whereby Air Malta would continue to expand its network, Dr Friesen said.

sorry to tell you ,fly to Edinburgh. After November Air Malta abandons Scotland after pulling out of Glasgow .We will now have to travel to Dublin or England for flights to your beautiful island's or holiday elswhere . Is any body at Air Malta listning.

You're suggesting flights to and from Edinburgh (which I also agree with) when Airmalta is going to stop its only flight to Scotland, i.e. Glasgow! For those of you who don't know Glasgow is the only destination available in Scotland from Malta, and is always full on both days of operation - Mondays and Thursdays. However, Airmalta has decided to stop the direct flights from Glasgow as from November coming, and instead connect it to Manchester, London, and Birmingham flights - thus a passenger travelling from Glasgow to Malta using Airmalta will be leaving in the morning with a chartered plane, arriving at Manchester, Birmingham, or London, wait for another plane, and finally board on a plane to Malta. In total, this would amount to approximately 10hrs of travelling. Doesn't really make sense when the direct flight from Glasgow itself is already fully booked!

Well done Air Malta and staff you are a credit to your country.Keep your standards up as they are appreciated by many regular visitors to you beautiful Islands
But when are you going to fly direct to the Capital of Scotland-Edinburgh
You can fly direct to over 250 destinations or nearly 100 international Airports around the world from Edinburgh but not to Malta.-WHY ? What a lost opportunity for Tourism and the the chance for Maltese ad Gozitans to see the capital city of Scotland and surrounding countryside

It's good to know that your aggressive advertising is paying off; however, I wish that I could be as optimistic with regards to Air Malta's charter service which is currently operating out of UK airports.
The adverse reports that can be read on the following web-site, http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/malta.htm can have a detrimental effect on your costly advertising campaign if not checked.

good news that airmalta is carrying more passengers... but airmalta does not say on the news that its been in the red for the last 5 years. YES, AIRMALTA IS AND STILL LOSING MONEY. Why cant airmalta make a profit ?

Well, done - and yes this is the way to go. But !!!! I would love to know if Airmalta is doing profit or loss. What worries me is next March, when Air Malta states whether it has done profit or loss.
