At the risk of boring readers, may I please try to reiterate a point which I think is most important. I beg those who disagree to write in response.

The introduction of civil divorce in Malta has absolutely nothing to do with faith or religion. It is simply an affirmation of the separation of Church and state.

Is Ireland any less Catholic than Malta?

It follows that the only question on which consensus is needed is:

Is Malta a secular or a religious state? This question must be answered and settled once and for all. Let's agree on the above, if we are to retain our European culture and democracy.
