in my opinion, its ok i guess to catch the ''small'' users and pushers of drugs in this country .. they are young after all and innocent .. but the drug lords and wise importers .. they live comfortably and make good use of these young individuals .. n they live free .. are the police scared of taking action?? do the police have no power?????

If the police go in every party organises, the police will found greater ammounts of ecstasy for sure....everyone have a perception of such things..."U l-qasba ma ccaqqcaqx ghalxejn" - the police must make severe controls in every party organised not only in Paceville but also in places in the countryside...places like in the limits around Zebbug and Rabat. I sure they do so but maybe there must be an intisification of such controls

Sure catch the small fry - for the public 12 is a good number - for the barons the public is appeased - for the public the police are doing their work and drugs kept in control - false reality :)

It was very unfortunate for Mr.Vella that he suffered continous hassle from the police way back in the 1980's but the same Mr.Vella knows perfectly well that one cannot compare the 1980s to the 2000;s. Different period, different attitudes, different fashions etc....
Drugs in the 1980s were on the minority but weapons was the national hobby due to a lot of reasons, political included. He must know this otherwise he was not living here.
In the 2000s Drugs are the on the high list followed by corruption (we had two law abiding citizens who have paid the penalty recently).
However he has made one big point that I agree with him 100%. The excessive of the Identity Cards here on a small island of just more than 400,000 inhabitants.
Can anybody state how the law stands on these Identity Cards, because if the British are fighting tooth and nail against the introduction of ID, I can see their point as there is a lot of excessive and needless use of ID here?
What is exactly the point of having an ID and for what use is it for?
Any help any one?

Why are we still being treated like dogs?

Why do we still have ID cards like the Russians, and the Chinese?

Why is it illegal in ALL EU countries to carry a weapons in a vehicle, even a crow bar?

@A.Daley.I agree with you wholeheartedly,but then they used to strp your car for weapos in case you are trying to stage a coup .They never looked for drugs but just tools, weapons and radios.I know I was frquently stopped , regarding ID Cards why not have a look at UK they are fighting thier introduction like the plauge.I agree with ID Cards they save a lot of hassle but are they being used properly in Malta? Just quoting the number should not be enough.

Why was this kind of exercise considered to be infringement of one's individual liberties and treated like dogs in the early eighties, but when it happens now it is considered to be a necessity?

Is it the same case, similar to when ID cards were introduced and some went out shouting, that we were being treated like dogs?

Why are we still being treated like dogs?

Or was it ALWAYS a good exercise by the AFM?
