In his column entitled 'Opening a can of worms', Fr Peter Serracino Inglott referred to the Maltese Language Council (The Sunday Times, August 10).

I have a question for the council, whose term has apparently been prolonged, though, as far as I know, the reason has not been made public.

My question regards the member who sits on the council to represent the four Maltese Language Associations mentioned by the law. Can anyone from the council explain the process leading to the election of the representative? When did this election take place? Is there a process verbale or some other written testimony of that election? What was the mechanism used?
