Three post-secondary student restorers - Clayton Bonello, Claire Scerri and Francesco Sultana - have recently returned from a Rome study visit to various important sites. These included the Capotoline museums, the basilica of San Paolo Fuori Le Mura, the St Peter's basilica and the Vatican laboratories, where the firm Sante Guido Restauro e Conservazione carried out restoration works using different techniques to restore murals, sculptures, and ceramics amongst other things.

The National Student Travel Foundation sponsored the students' visit to further their desire to pursue a career as professional restorers. Sante Guido's Giuseppe Mantella expressed satisfaction at the progress and interest shown by the students throughout their stay in Rome.

NSTF secretary general Francis Stivala said the visit formed part of a series of educational projects that the NSTF organised to mark its 30th anniversary, including public seminars and art workshops for students.
