Michael Mifsud was handed his first start for Coventry City this season in the Sky Blues' 3-1 League Cup win over Aldershot last night.

Last month, Mifsud had fallen out of favour with manager Chris Coleman after he had asked for a transfer only for his proposed move to Bristol City collapsed when he failed to agree personal terms.

However, the City boss had a change of heart this week when naming Mifsud in his squad for the first round tie against the League Two side and the forward responded with an excellent performance as Coventry eased through.

Robbie Simpson struck twice for the Sky Blues with the other goal coming from Clinton Morrison.

Other results: Sheffield Utd vs Port Vale 3-1; Wycombe vs Birmi-ngham 0-4; Nottm Forest vs More-cambe 4-0.
