St Paul's Bay to clamp down on waste disposal abuse

St Paul's Bay council has warned it will deploy plain clothes wardens to investigate and fine businesses and residents who take out their waste after refuse collection would have taken place, or hours before.

The mayor said the new action would be taken from next Wednesday.

Fines range from €58.23 ( Lm25 ) for domestic waste, to €2,329.37 ( Lm1,000 ) for bulky refuse.

The mayor said the action was being taken after it was noted that commercial waste was being left in the streets for hours, sometimes even days.
