The government pharmacy at Mosta will be operating for the last time today.
The Health Division said all patients will instead pick up the medicines they are entitled to for free from their chosen pharmacy as part of the Pharmacy of Your Choice scheme.
The division said the residents of Mosta, Naxxar, Għargħur, St Paul's Bay, Burmarrad, Mġarr and Mellieħa who have not yet registered for the scheme, should do so with their chosen pharmacy immediately.
The roll-out of the scheme to other areas has been put on hold because of lack of staff at the government's central pharmacy.

What does lack of Staff at the Government's central pharmacy have to do with it?? The very idea of the 'Pharmacy of Your Choice' scheme was partly to address staff issues and allow outsourcing of the service thereby necessitating less staff for the Government's pharmacy section! (?)

I am more than sure that Government knows about the thousands in other areas of Malta who have registered with their pharmacy months ago and who are still waiting for the scheme to reach their towns and villages. What does "lack of staff at the Government's Central pharmacy" mean? If I remember correctly, pharmacists in Government employment had expressed fears that their job would be jeopardized by the introduction of the scheme. Now we are told that there are not enough pharmacists to do the job. Can the public be correctly informed, please? Can we also know how many Pharmacy graduates have been coming out of our University these last few years? Is it true that "Spizjara w Avukati hergin bit-tunellati"?
