Sicilian artist Salvatore Montanucci is returning to his homeland for an art class with a difference.

Next month he will be organising a painting trip to Sicily. La Sicilia Nel Pennello Dei Maltesi - Sicily through the brush of the Maltese - is designed to give Maltese artists the opportunity for intensive training in landscape painting, while allowing them to relax and take in the island's natural beauty.

Last year's trip was followed by an exhibition of the work produced by the artists, giving them the opportunity to display and sell their work.

The eight-day art course will involve painting the areas of Ragusa and Chiaramonte particularly scenic landscapes, focusing on historical, cultural and architectural sites.

Renowned for his interactive approach to teaching art, Mr Montanucci began to paint professionally in 1986, obtaining a diploma from the Istituto d'Arte FIDIA di Agrigento in 1990.

Praised by Italian public service broadcaster, Rai Tre as "one of the foremost European landscape artists", his work has been exhibited in Malta, Italy, Switzerland, US, Germany, Tenerife, Majorca and Spain.

Anyone who is interested in attending La Sicilia Nel Pennello Dei Maltesi should contact the artist on 7970 8487 or 2141 6756 or montanucci@onvol.net.
