ABELA. On August 11, CARMELO at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 74, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Connie, his children Rosemarie and her husband Mario Sammut, Helena and her husband Patrick Dalli, and Chris; his grandchildren Luc, Anneliese, Andrew and Jean; his brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3.30 p.m. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m. at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces, Żabbar followed by interment at Żabbar cemetery.

BORG. On August 12, JAMES, of San Ġwann, aged 14, passed away tragically comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his mother Diane, his father Albert, his brother Luke, his grandparents, uncles and aunties, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends among them all the members of San Ġwann Football Nursery. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved daughter Marika, wife of Emidio Fenech, her grandchildren Mark and Manwel and his fiancée Janice, her sisters Laura and Antonia and her husband Frederick, her sisters-in-law Lina and Ines Bugeja, Margherita, widow of her brother Joseph, numerous nephews and nieces, other in-laws, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Gżira parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. FALZON. On August 11, PAULINE née Gambin, widow of Louis, aged 83, of Rabat, passed away peacefully at Mtarfa Home comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Maria and her husband Albert Grasso, Josephine and her husband Peter Vella, her grandchildren Sister Christine Maria OSJ and David Oscar, her brothers and sisters, many nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. MUSCAT. On August 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, LOUIS of Rabat, residing in Balzan, aged 66, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Beatrix, his daughter Joanne and her husband Mario Cremona, his son David and his fiancée Loranna, his brothers and sisters and their families and his wife's family, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Feast of the Assumption in Mdina

Archbishop Paul Cremona will preside over the celebrations being held at the Cathedral in Mdina on the occasion of the feast of the Assumption.

Tomorrow, the eve of the feast, celebrations start at 5.45 p.m. with the translation of the relic of Our Lady followed by Mass and pontifical vespers at 6 p.m.

On Friday, feast day, a pontifical concelebrated Mass will be said at 9.30 a.m. while another Mass will be said at 11 a.m.

The programme will continue at 5 p.m. with vespers, reposition of the relic and Eucharistic celebration followed by Mass at 6 p.m.

Letterbox back in use

The letterbox in Triq Alamein, Pembroke which was out of service because of maintenance works, is now back in service.

Thanksgiving Mass

The parish choir of Żurrieq will celebrate its 52nd anniversary with a Thanksgiving Mass on August 31 at 6 p.m. at St Catherine's parish church.
