Two teenagers yesterday pleaded guilty to stealing a handbag containing €2,210 worth of items from Footloose Bar in Paceville.

The 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy admitted to stealing the bag on the night of August 6 to the detriment to two Siberian nationals, Svetlana Kirillina and Irina Popova. The bag contained two mobile phones worth €800, a digital camera worth €830, an mp3 player worth €350 and other items.

The details of the two teenagers cannot be published by court order.

Police Inspector Bernard Spiteri told the court, presided over by Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna, that the boy was currently being held in prison for allegedly breaching his bail conditions on the night of the theft.

Magistrate Apap Bologna said that rather than send the girl to prison, he granted her bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 until sentencing this morning.

Lawyer Renzo Porsella Flores appeared as legal aid for the two.
