ABELA. On August 11, CARMELO at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 74, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Connie, his children Rosemarie and her husband Mario Sammut, Helena and her husband Patrick Dalli, and Chris; his grandchildren Luc, Anneliese, Andrew and Jean; his brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 3.30 p.m. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m. at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces, Żabbar followed by interment at Żabbar cemetery.

CARUANA CURRAN. On August 9, LIANA, at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 56, peacefully went to meet the Risen Lord comforted by the rites of the Holy Church after an illness borne so very courageously. Beloved daughter of Mara, née Turi and of the late Joe Caruana Curran, she also leaves to mourn her loss her sister Tita and her husband Nick de Giorgio and their children, Jordan and Manuela, her brother Joe and his children, Joe and Gianluca, her uncle, Judge Maurice Caruana Curran and his wife Cettina, her cousins Simone Mizzi and Paul Caruana Curran, her aunts Tea and Rossana Albanozzo and their daughters Marcella, Gianna, Marina, Milena, Lilla, Paola and Sandra, as well as her many friends and her treasured dog, Caravaggio. Liana deeply wished to thank her surgeon and his dedicated team for the caring attention given to her during her illness, the doctors at the Pain Management Clinic, all the medical and nursing staff at the ENT ward of the Mater Dei Hospital and the medical team at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, as well as Fr Pat Browne for all the moments of comfort he provided throughout her illness. Thank you, Liana, for teaching us all how to celebrate death and to meet it with such great faith, dignity and humour. Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated today at 2 p.m. at St Julian's parish church, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to the Puttinu Cares Children's Cancer Support Group as well as to the Malta Hospice Movement will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CHETCUTI. On August 9, ANTHONY, aged 59, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church after a tragic accident. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Carmen, his daughters Kristina and Nadja and his treasured granddaughter Pippa. He also leaves to mourn his loss his brothers and sisters, Alfred and his wife Lucia, Carrie, Helen, Joe and his wife Carmen, Mary and her husband Joe Battistino, his mother-in-law Carmelina Farrugia, his sister-in-law Margaret Cachia and his brother-in-law Eugenio Farrugia and his wife Julia, as well as nieces and nephews, relatives and friends and his colleagues at the Customs Department. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 8.30 a.m. at Christ the King parish church, Paola, followed by interment at Ta' l-Erwieħ Cemetery, Tarxien. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, his favourite charitable institution, will be greatly appreciated.

GRECH. On August 10, at Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Roseville, California, USA, FREDDIE, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Bice, his son Howard, his only surviving sister Lillian Camilleri, his in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends in Malta. The funeral is being held in Roseville. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Junior College Applications

Prospective applicants who did not attend the Junior College orientation meeting can obtain the college prospectus together with an application form from the administration office during office hours. Applications will be received at the college between 8.30 a.m. and noon on August 20 for those surnames starting with A or B, on August 21 for those starting with C to L and on August 22 for those with M to Z.
