The marriage took place on July 12, at St Theresa Sanctuary, Birkirkara, between CARMEL, son of Mr and Mrs Franky Micallef of Birkirkara, and SVETLANA MARIA, daughter of Mr and Mrs Carmel Azzopardi of Qormi. Fr Vince Magri, SJ, celebrated Mass. The ceremony was witnessed by Mrs Susan Farrugia and Mr Patrick Camilleri, FIA, CPA. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr William Spiteri Bailey, FIA, CPA, and Mr Ivan Azzopardi, BA (Hons), Accty, FIA, CPA. The bride was assisted by Miss Kler Azzopardi and Mrs Speranza Borg, while Miss Elisa Borg was flower-girl. A reception was later held at the Coastline Suite, Coastline Hotel, Salina. The couple spent their honeymoon in the United Kingdom.

AZZOPARDI. On August 9, JOHN BAPTIST, ex-PS 504, aged 83, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Susan and her husband Emanuel Berry, Marlene and her husband Alfred Vogel, Dr Anthony Paul and his wife Antoinette, and Yvonne, his grandchildren Mariella and her husband Karl Hoekstra, Jens Martin, Stefan-John, Miriam, Janine, Marc Anthony, Lara, Hendrik, and Carl, his great-grandchildren Mia and Nikolai, his sisters Hilda and Carrie of Australia, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. CARUANA CURRAN. On August 9, at Mater Dei Hospital, LIANA, aged 56, peacefully went to meet the risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, after an illness bourne so very courageously. Beloved daughter of Mara née Turi and of the late Joe Caruana Curran, she also leaves to mourn her loss her sister Tita and her husband Nick de Giorgio and their children Jordan and Manuela, her brother Joe and his children Joe and Gianluca, her uncle Judge Maurice Caruana Curran and his wife Cettina, her cousins Simone Mizzi and Paul Caruana Curran, her aunts Tea and Rossana Albanozzo and their daughters Marcella, Gianna, Marina, Milena, Lilla, Paola and Sandra, as well as her many friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Liana deeply wished to thank all the medical and nursing staff of the ENT department and of the Pain Management Clinic at Mater Dei Hospital, as well as Fr Pat Browne for all the moments of comfort he provided throughout her illness. Thank you, Liana, for teaching us all how to celebrate death and to meet it with such great faith, dignity and humour.
