Paul Azzopardi, 52, of Ħamrun has been arraigned before Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani accused of seriously injuring his partner of 11-years, Simone Azzopardi, in a vital part of her body, using a pointed instrument.

He was also accused of instilling fear in Ms Azzopardi that violence would be used on her, her children, or other members of her family.

He was further accused of insulting Ms Azzopardi, who is also the mother of his children.

He pleaded not guilty but was denied bail.
