On behalf of parents and students, I thank the Institute of Tourism Studies for organising a course on 'Training in hospitality trades for disadvantaged people and people with learning difficulties'.
Twenty-two participants completed a 208-hour course, financed mostly by European social funds.
My gratitude also goes to the lecturing staff and facilitators who whole heartedly helped students acquire knowledge and skills. The course aimed to raise awareness among the industry that these students are employable and can be assets to the sector.
I hope other organisations, institutions, and firms follow suit so that such students' employability is enhanced through training.
