Artist at work

For the past year Gozitan artist Pawlu Camilleri Cauchi has been working on the main vault paintings for the two Mosta band clubs. A large painting depicting the Santa Marija convoy will be inaugurated at the Santa Maria Band Club. The Nicolo Isouard Band Club will soon unveil a painting showing four episodes from Mosta's history: the consecration of the church; the Eucharistic Congress of 1913; the miracle of the unexploded bomb in 1942, and the crowning of the titular painting. Camilleri Cauchi has also been commissioned to paint portraits of St Pius X, Pope Paul VI, Archpriest Girgor Borg and the founder of the band club, Ganni Azzopardi.
