Some 129 Georgians killed in conflict
At least 129 people have been killed in fighting between Georgian forces and Russian-backed separatists in the country's rebel South Ossetia region, a Georgian government source told Reuters today.
The previous death toll had been 40. The figure included civilians and military dead. About 748 people have been injured, said the source, who did not wish to be identified.

For comparison:
When Georgia started that war, they killed 1,500 - 2,000 civilian Ossetians, opening volley bombing of Ossetian capital Tskhinvali, razing in to the ground together with schools and hospitals.
Georgian casualties are soldiers mostly, because Russians did not attack civilian targets.
