Golden Wedding
Mr LAWRENCE SCHEMBRI and Miss SYLVIA DEGABRIELE
The marriage took place on August 9, 1958, at Christ the King parish church, Paola. Mgr F. Xuereb officiated at the ceremony. Congratulations to mum and dad. With heartfelt thanks for your love and dedication. Marisa and Michael, Godfrey and Anna and your beloved grandchildren Deborah, Daniel, Benjamin, Celine Amy and Maximilian.
Obituary
FENECH. On August 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, VIOLET of Msida, (ex-Barclays/Mid Med Bank), aged 83, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her sister Lina Vassallo, widow of Joseph, and her devoted nephew Kenneth Vassallo and his wife Blanche, her brother Frank and his wife Marie Therèse, her numerous nephews and nieces in Malta and the UK, amongst whom Josette, Chris and Sue Vassallo and their daughter Francesca, Richard Fenech and his fiancée Yvette and Mario Fenech and his wife Mari, numerous relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 7.30 a.m. for St Joseph parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m., followed by interment in the family vault at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Animated tours at Red Tower
The Historical Re-enactment Group of Malta will be giving animated tours at the Red Tower, limits of Mellieħa, tomorrow between 10 a.m. and noon.
The actors will represent characters from the blockade period, including Maltese national Congress troops, British sailors and marines.
The Red Tower was restored and is managed by Din l-Art Ħelwa, and enjoys an eagle-eye view over the blue straits of Comino and the sandy bay of Mellieħa.
It was built by Grand Master Lascaris on Mellieħa Ridge to defend the Comino Straits high. Dedicated to St Agatha, it housed 49 men.
Entrance to the tower costs €1.
FOI signs partner agreement
The Federation of Industry yesterday signed a Corporate Partner Agreement with The Palace Hotel in Sliema.
As part of the agreement, federation members will be receiving a variety of benefits and discounts on the services offered by The Palace.
Evaluator for Italy-Malta Programme
As the national coordinator for the INTERREG IIIA Cross-Border Programme (Italy-Malta 2004-2006), the Planning and Priorities Coordination Division within the Office of the Prime Minister has announced a call for expressions of interest for an independent evaluator.
The Italy-Malta Programme (2004- 2006), which is managed by the Presidenza Regione Siciliana, envisages cooperation between regions in Sicily and the Maltese islands. This cooperation takes the form of projects where eligible entities exchange and transfer best practices and know-how, and jointly develop approaches and instruments that contribute towards regional development, economic modernisation and social cohesion.
All applications should be submitted to: Regione Siciliana, Ufficio Speciale Cooperazione Decentrata Allo Sviluppo Ed Alla Solidarieta` Internazionale, Piazza L. Sturtzo, 36 90139 Palermo.
This documentation will form the basis of the initial stage of candidate assessment.
Successful candidates will be asked to attend an interview in Sicily.
