The National Fisheries Cooperative of Marsaxlokk will be holding a 30-hour hook-tying marathon today and tomorrow to raise funds for the families of victims of the recent Simshar tragedy.

During the marathon, which starts at 4 p.m. today and ends at 10 p.m. tomorrow, cooperative president Toni Carabott will apply his fisherman's skills to tie hooks.

The event will take place in the main square at Marsaxlokk.

Patrons are being invited to take with them their hooks and nylon and to tell Mr Carabott what type of knot they want, against a donation.

The cooperative said that money raised from this event will be channelled into a special fund which was set up to help the Simshar victims.
