Public transport talks resume

Talks on public transport reform continued this morning with separate meetings between a delegation from the Transport Ministry and delegations from the associations representing taxi and mini-bus owners.

A spokesman for the ministry said the talks were cordial and productive.

The meetings focused on measures to mitigate the impact of liberalisation on incumbent operators. The Ministry explained that it wants to liberalise these two sectors but was prepared to discuss the views of the associations before implementing this policy.

The talks are scheduled to continue with both associations in two weeks time.
