A trackless 'train' for the Rabat, Mdina and Mtarfa zone has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

The trackless 'train', which moves on an established route on existing roads, is meant for tourists and will provide patrons with an informative commentary on the historical and culturally rich town of Rabat, neighbouring Mtarfa and panoramic views of the closed city of Mdina.

It takes up to 60 adult passengers and moves at a maximum speed of 25 kilometres per hour.

The service is being provided by Melita Trains, a recently formed partnership.

Services start tomorrow at 9.30 a.m.
