The Citadel to 'rock' for a noble cause
The Gozo Cathedral square will be the unusual venue for a rock concert tomorrow in aid of San Manoel Chaparron Missions in Guatemala, led by Gozitan missionary Fr Anton Grech.
The three-hour concert will feature Miriam Christine Warner, Pamela Bezzina, Glen Vella, Stephanie Portelli, Kurt Cassar and the bands Mistaken Identity and Danny’s Band (from Cash&Band).
Citadel Rocks, an extension of Santa Marija festivities, is being organised by the Aurora Youth Movement in collaboration with the Victoria Local Council, Café Jubilee, Café Royale, Ta’ Dirjanu, and Palazzo Antonin. Entrance for the event which starts at 10pm will be free.

Will this group of youths be the same group that ended up blind drunk and causing mayhem in the centre of Victoria after last years event?
There are far too many such late events in the centre of Victoria and I would personally seriously question the legality of their sound-level.
What you and your rival feast organisers, along with the church, local council and Gozo ministry, fail to take into account is that a number of people would like to sleep at a normal hour, plus the sick, elderly, very young and those who have to work in the morning need to sleep full-stop. But the prevailing attitude seems to be "I'm alright Jack."
Why can't such events be held away from the centre of Victoria or at least in an indoor soundproofed environment, such as the nightclubs are required to do?
Perhaps the recently formed Gozo Mickey Mouse Consortium could add such a venue to their project list.

Your answer also clearly smacks of parrochialism.
What has Viva Santa Marija or its feast and devotion got to do with the rock concert?

You can consider the organizers of Gozo1234 as insane as a concert by an international group was held in the same place.

Why not in the Citadel Square. At least it will come to life. BTW all sorts of activities are held in the squares around the world. You think that the Citadel will be damaged? Be sure that this is a relatively small concert with a relatively small audience (most of them youths from the Cathedral parish enjoying their feast). The same concert was held last year and nobody complained as the sound levels are kept relatively low within established legal levels.
Well this is typical arrogance of Maltese telling the Gozitans what to do. For heavens sake stop trying to make Gozo yours and let us organize our own small activities. VIVA SANTA MARIJA!

Neither the Gozo Ministry nor the Victoria Council seem to care about the residents in the centre of Victoria who are constantly deprived of sleep due to such events.....

No for God's sake not in the citadel square...please...I call the Ministry of Gozo..'nip it in the bud'...quickly......if you say yes to this..then brace yourself..for other worthy causes.....
