Atlas Insurance PCC Ltd, one of the leading Maltese insurers, and its holding company, Atlas Holdings Ltd, have looked beyond their own shareholding ranks and appointed Richard Clough to succeed Walter Camilleri, who is relinquishing the group chairmanship after holding the position for 12 years. Mr Camilleri will retain his seat on the board of directors.
Mr Clough has been a director of Atlas Insurance since the company obtained a licence to operate as a general business insurer in 2004. He brings to the group wide-ranging experience in the finance and strategy fields and, following his admittance as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, held various executive positions in the UK including that of chief executive of Care UK Plc, the listed healthcare provider.
He is also an experienced non-executive director, being currently deputy chairman of CareMalta plc (Malta), chairman of H2O Divers Ltd (Malta), chairman of Lifeways Community Care, a UK care provider for people with a learning disability, and acts as CEO of Healthcare Homes Holdings Ltd, his own elderly care provider in the UK.
At a recent board meeting when he was appointed chairman, Mr Clough thanked Mr Camilleri for his contribution to the group.
