Anton Refalo, Labour spokesman for Gozo, has called for the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee (Meusac) to set up a sub-committee on Gozitan issues.

He expressed his satisfaction that the Gozo Business Chamber had rejoined the core group of Meusac.

The Gozo Tourism Association and the Gozitan non-governmental organisations should not be left out of the council, he said.

The government said Dr Refalo's comment was premature because the Gozo Tourism Association and Gozitan NGOs will soon be asked to nominate representatives on one of the nine committees within Meusac.

Within a few weeks, a committee will be formally set up within the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development where Gozitan civil society will be represented.
