The Malta Environment and Planning Authority last month decided 605 applications and received 545 new applications. The pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,835, Mepa said.

The authority processed 126 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

Fifty-seven Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 38 in Malta and the rest in Gozo.

During the same month 53 enforcement cases were closed, 32 in Malta and 21 in the sister island.

Forty enforcement cases were sanctioned. Another seven cases were resolved as the owners decided to remove the illegal development and comply with the enforcement notice. During the same month, three cases were withdrawn by Mepa.

Three cases were also closed following the payment due for direct action carried out in previous years.
