Suspension of Malta-Glasgow KM flights (1)
We retired to Gozo in October 2007 from Edinburgh, after spending many happy holidays on Gozo. We have introduced many friends and family to this lovely island and were expecting many of them to visit us in our retirement.
Also we have school age grandchildren who still live in Scotland and we had planned to fly backwards and forwards several times a year to visit them. Now that Air Malta have scrapped direct flights to Scotland this has all been made impractical.
We hope another airline takes over what was always a busy route. If no one does we will probably have to move to somewhere like Spain from where we can fly to Scotland easily.
Maybe this kind of event explains why, in our apartment block of six, ours is the only one occupied. And ours may not be occupied much longer.
We know we can fly with BA to Scotland and have done so but would not care to repeat it. Last time it took 12 hours from door to door: Gozo - ferry - Luqa - Gatwick - Edinburgh is very tiring. We have taken less time to fly from Scotland to Canada.
I appeal to Air Malta to reconsider this decision. They have about 30 flights a week to London, can't you give at least one flight to Scotland?

Sorry to burst your bubble , but commercial decisions cannot be taken in a charitable manner.
Just to make your day :-)

British Airways will axe hundreds of flights between Glasgow Airport and London Heathrow Airport this winter.
Services between the two bases are to fall by an average of ten flights per week, with the airline holding open the prospect of further cancellations in the coming months.
The flag carrier is making the cutbacks as part of a wider cost-cutting drive, with rising fuel prices leading to a massive 88 per cent fall in pre-tax profits.
Alongside the Glasgow move, more than 130 of the airline's winter flights will be cut between Heathrow Airport and Aberdeen Airport, while several international services are also being scaled back.
Complaining about the apparent focus on domestic cancellations, Liz Cameron of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce told The Scotsman: "We have already raised concerns that Scotland's flights to London's airports seem expendable ahead of all others."
In June, BA had axed its popular 6am 'red-eye' flight between Glasgow and London Heathrow, citing a desire to free up slots ............................
If BA does it ,it makes sense ???

Lufthansa have a good connection to Edinburgh via Frankfurt. My son uses it regularly as he lives in Edinburgh. All in all when you work out the travelling time from Glasgow to edinburgh and the costs involved , it is more convenient to land directly at Edinburgh airport. There are connections at least twice a day.
