Smart City Kochi signs up remaining land

Smart City Kochi, a joint venture between Smart City and the government of Kerala on Tuesday signed the lease agreement for the remaining 11.4 acres of land that makes up the northern land parcel of 133 acres.

Out of the 246 acres of land which Smart City Kochi expands over, it currently has in-formal SEZ (Special Economic Zone) approval of 133 acres of the land. To be in a further planning stage once the SEZ notification status is granted, Smart City Kochi has already taken significant steps forward by appointing Colin Buchanan as the master planners, Mouchel as the infrastructure design and implementation consultants, and Hill International as the project management consultants for the Smart City Kochi integrated township.

The signing of this land agreement will enable Smart City Kochi to progress with the SEZ notification process. Like all developments of this size, there are many technicalities that need thorough consideration. Smart City Kochi is moving forward with realising the township and is currently in the process of setting up a fully functional sales office in Kochi. The sales office will allow direct contact with potential business partners and a more hands-on approach to the development and relations between Smart City Kochi and its stakeholders.

Smart City is a joint venture company promoted by Dubai Holding members, TECOM Investments and SAMA Dubai, to develop and manage knowledge industry townships worldwide. Smart City Kochi, along with Smart City Malta, are the first two projects to be part of the global network of knowledge-based industry townships that Smart City seeks to develop.
