Obituary

VELLA. On July 31, at Karen Grech Hospital, ANGELA née Cassar of Żejtun, aged 81, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss, her children Alfred and his wife Lucia, Catherine and her husband Frederick Enriquez, Miriam and her husband Samuel Padovani Ginies, her grandchildren Lennox, Jonathan, Diane, Isaac and Jason, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karen Grech Hospital today at 7.30 a.m. for St Catherine's parish church, Żejtun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.15 a.m. followed by interment at St Gregory Cemetery, Żejtun. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Malta Medical Journal

The University of Malta has published the second issue of the 20th volume of the Malta Medical Journal, addressing two obstetric issues, one featuring the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the evaluation of the developing foetus and another featuring the immunology of early pregnancy and its relationship to miscarriage.

The editorial questions the pursuit of excellence in medical education.

The in-practice article deals with shoulder pain.

The journal also carries a posthumous article by microbiologist Emmanuel Agius, entitled Historical Perspective - An Essay On Some Aspects Of Medicine In Malta Between 1934-1990.

Heritage training

The International, Intensive and French-Speaking Training Cycle - Preparing The Heritage Sites' Future will be held between March 22 and 28 in France, under the auspices of Unesco.

Those interested in taking part should send an application form to the organisers by not later than August 29.

Bowling for mothers

The next Bowl 'a' Mama morning will take place at Eden Superbowl on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Mums can bowl for €6.50 and children over three for €4.70. To keep the younger children and toddlers occupied and to give mums some free time, the Eden SuperBowl will provide a play area with slides, see-saws, play houses, painting material and toys.

Roads closed

Pjazza Ġublew in Mġarr, Malta, will be closed to traffic today, between 7 a.m. and midnight. Triq In-Naxxar in San Ġwann will be closed to traffic between 9 p.m. today and 1.30 a.m. tomorrow.
