A woman who pleaded guilty to stealing tourists' bags from a beach was yesterday jailed for a year and the court urged the prison authorities to help her with her drug addiction.
Appearing before Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, Jacqueline Rapinett, 31, from Cospicua, pleaded guilty to stealing several bags belonging to tourists from a hotel's beach club in St Julians on Thursday afternoon.
The bags contained MP3 players, mobile phones and cash. She also pleaded guilty to relapsing and breaching a previous court order.
Ms Rapinett also pleaded guilty to stealing a number of bags containing mobile phones and digital cameras on July 14 and 15.
The court jailed Ms Rapinett for one year and made a recommendation to the director of the Corradino Correctional Facility to help her start a drug rehabilitation programme.
