Mikel Arteta is willing to prolong his stay at Everton, ruling out an immediate return to Spain.

The Spanish playmaker has been repeatedly linked with a return to his homeland this summer, with Atletico Madrid reported to be heading the list of admirers.

"I always say - and I don't know how many times I have to say it - that I'm so happy here and I have no intention to leave," Arteta told the club's official website.

"One day I would like to go back to Spain before I end my career - maybe one or two years over there."

Bentley aims high after joining Spurs

England midfielder David Bentley hopes to take his game to the "next level" after completing a £15 million transfer from Blackburn Rovers to Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs could eventually pay as much as £17 million for the former Arsenal trainee who has signed a contract of up to six years, according to a club statement yesterday.

Bentley, who won six caps during his time at Blackburn, said he was confident of making further progress under his new manager.

"(Juande) Ramos is someone who is going to get the best out of me," the 23-year-old told a news conference. "I have seen what he has done with the other lads, I spoke to the other players before I came here.

"I think he can develop my game and push me on hopefully to the next level."

Capello tips Milan for Serie A title

England manager Fabio Capello believes that Milan can wrest the Serie A title from Inter this season.

"Milan are the favourites for the Scudetto," Capello told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "They are also completely focused on the league. Europe can wait and Carlo Ancelotti will use his best side in Serie A.

"It's lucky for Milan that (new signing) Ronaldinho is going to the Olympic Games.

"He will return match-fit and motivated after a tough year. This is the right launch-pad for him to return to orbit."

McBride opts for Chicago move

Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire have signed former US international striker Brian McBride until the end of the 2009 season after leaving English Premier League side Fulham.

McBride, 36, has played at three World Cups and will be an over-age member in the US Olympic team at the Beijing Games starting next week.

"Brian is one of the greatest strikers in American history and we are thrilled to have him be a part of our team," said Fire technical director Frank Klopas in a statement.

Ince targets Liverpool's Pennant

Blackburn Rovers could be ready to spend a significant portion of the transfer fee they will receive for David Bentley on Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant.

A successful bid for Pennant, who is valued at £5 million, would diminish the resources made available to Paul Ince but the Rovers manager is reportedly keen on signing the former Birmingham wide man.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is prepared to let Pennant go after two disappointing seasons at Anfield following his move from Birmingham.

Yossi Benayoun has also been linked with a move away from Liverpool, with former club West Ham among the frontrunners.

Tiago heading for Juve exit

Juventus midfielder Tiago Mendes is reportedly close to leaving the Italian club after moving out of his house in Turin.

The Portuguese international endured a miserable first season in Serie A despite arriving from Lyon with high expectations.

Coach Claudio Ranieri admitted that Tiago had failed to impress and could be on his way out.

"All over Europe he is considered to be a great player," the Juve coach said. "But football throws up some strange mysteries.

"There are flops in Italian football and sometimes it seems to make no sense. But there are lots of fans who want me to continue with Tiago."

Lecce are being linked with a move for former Messina striker Christian Riganò.

The Serie A newcomers are looking to bolster their squad after the departure of striker Elvis Abbruscato who has linked up with Torino.

Reports suggest that Lecce could offer a deal to free agent Riganò. At the age of 34, the striker is looking for a fresh challenge after terminating his contract with Spanish side Levante yesterday.
