Obituary
ALOISIÓ. On July 29, at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, baby MARIAH of Msida, aged two months passed away peacefully. She leaves to mourn her loss her mother Antonella and her father Michael, her grandparents, uncle and aunties, cousins and other relatives. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow for Msida parish church where Missa de Angelis will be said at 8 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.
GRECH. On July 31, MARJANNA, widow of Edgar of Birżebbuġa and lately at Żejtun Home for the Elderly, aged 92, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Vincent and his wife Mary, John and his wife Rita, Denis and his wife Aida, Marlene and her husband Edwin Ebejer, her sister Jane, her grandchildren Justin, Stephanie, Audrey, Anne Mary, Leeanne, Erika and Casey, her in-laws Joe and Carmelina, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45 p.m. for Birżebbuġa parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.
MAMO. On July 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, ROBERT k/a Robbie, of Gżira, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Lina, his daughters Silvana and her husband Peter Caruana, and Roberta and her husband Louis Coleiro, his grandchildren David, Gabriella, Steven and Julia, his sister May, widow of Dr Edwin Bonello, his in-laws and their respective families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. VELLA. On July 31, at Karen Grech Hospital, ANGELA née Cassar, of Żejtun, aged 81, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Alfred and his wife Lucia, Catherine and her husband Frederick Enriquez, Miriam and her husband Samuel Padovani Ginies, her grandchildren Jonathan, Diane, Isaac and Jason, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karen Grech Hospital tomorrow at 7.30 a.m. for St Catherine's parish church, Żejtun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.15 a.m., followed by interment at St Gregory Cemetery, Żejtun. Migrants to meet President
The Emigrants' Commission is inviting migrants on holiday in Malta for a meeting with President Eddie Fenech Adami on August 7 at 11.30 a.m.
Migrants are asked to meet at Dar L-Emigrant, Valletta at 9.30 a.m. or in front of the President's Palace at 11 a.m.
Prior to the meeting, a presentation will be held at Dar L-Emigrant and migrants can visit St John's Co-Cathedral and the President's Palace.
Roads closed
Triq Il-Wiesgħa, Triq Il-Kbira and Triq Karmnu Zarb in Għargħur will be closed to traffic today, between noon and midnight.
Triq Il-Mensija, Triq Is-Santwarju, Triq Is-Sebuqa, Triq Torri Lanzon, Triq Il-Qasab, Triq Il-Qanneb, Triq Il-Kunċizzjoni, Triq San Pietru, Triq Birkirkara, Triq Karm Longo, Sqaq Żbibu, Triq Il-Korvu, Triq Ta' Ċieda, Triq It-Torri Ruman and Triq In-Naxxar in San Ġwann will be closed to traffic between 7.30 p.m. today and 12.30 a.m. tomorrow.

The sub-post office at Louis Stationery, 49, Pjazza San Nikola, Siġġiewi, SGW 1070 will be closed for business between August 7 and 19, both days included. During this period the public can avail itself of the postal services provided by the Maltapost branch at Triq Xortino, Żebbuġ, ŻBG 1001.

Prison visitors board
Ivan Daniel Mifsud has been appointed chairman of the Prison Visitors Board. Anton Grech is vice-chairman.
The other members of the board are Roberta Zahra de Domenico, Ingrid Zammit Young, Anthony Azzopardi, Angele Licari and Carmel Delicata. Maria Borg is the board secretary.
Commonwealth archivists
National archivist Charles Farrugia has been elected chairman of the Commonwealth Archivists Association for the next four years. His election took place during the International Archives Congress held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last month. Mr Farugia was proposed by the delegate of Botswana.
Prayer meeting
The Moviment Madonna Tal-Konsagrazzjoni committee will be holding a prayer meeting at Girgenti, Siġġiewi on Sunday at 6.30 p.m.
New sterling account
Bank of Valletta has launched a new deposit opportunity in sterling, offering an interest rate of six per cent per annum.
The new BOV Sterling Deposit Account is being offered between Monday and August 16, both days included. It is a two-year account that can be opened with a minimum balance of £1,000.
This is the first deposit account denominated in sterling with a preferential interest rate that is being introduced by Bank of Valletta since the introduction of the euro. This is a limited offer and may be closed earlier at the bank's discretion.
