Labour welcomes positive outcome of Gaddafi meeting

The Labour Party has expressed satisfaction at the positive reactions emerging from meetings held between Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi and the Maltese President Eddie Fenech Adami.

The Labour spokesmen on foreign and European affairs, George Vella and Luciano Busuttil, said the party had always believed that relations between Malta and neighbourly Libya should be special and built on reciprocal respect, cooperation and work designed to bring forward the national interests of both countries and that of the Mediterranean region.

The MLP was hoping that now, words uttered on a diplomatic level, would turn into facts, especially on issues that are important for Malta socially and economically, such as in relation to oil exploration and illegal migration.
