Bird hunting from land will be allowed between September 1 and January 31, 2009, the government said this evening. Hunting on Sundays and public holidays will only be allowed up to 1p.m.

However, in order to protect bird of prey, between September 15 and September 30 hunting from land will not be allowed between 3p.m. and two hours before dusk.

Hunting from boats will be allowed from October 1 to January 31, 2009.

Trapping of song birds can take place between October 1 and December 31.Trapping for tutle dove and qual will take place between September 1 and October 30 and trapping for golden plover and song thrush between October 20 and December 31.
