UK Telecoms provider Solution1 has commissioned Ascent Software, a Maltese software house that specialises in software outsourcing, with the development of a telecoms sales management, telephone line provisioning and helpdesk system based on Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 for customer relationship management (CRM).
Solution1, based in Edinburgh and Reading, is a provider of managed and hosted network services, voice, VoIP, and internet service providers solutions.
The company needed to expand upon its Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 architecture in order to consolidate all of its business processes under one system. Ascent Software was chosen to develop Microsoft CRM 4 add-ons to automate various business processes such as pre-provisioning of telephone lines and other services, the helpdesk ticketing system, the exportation of data to third party billing engines, a portal for customers and resellers, and integration with company's accounting system.
Karl Wills, chief operating officer at Solution1, said: "We split the project into two distinct phases. In the phase , Ascent were asked to customise Microsoft CRM 4 to add specific functionality required by our sales teams.
They delivered on-time, to specification and on-budget within a few weeks. We then awarded them the contract for the development of phase 2 which includes the compilation and documentation of the functional requirements and the development of the new add-ons".
Joseph Sultana, managing director of Ascent, commented "At Ascent we have considerable experience and expertise in telecoms provisioning and billing and this obviously put us at an advantage for the Solution1 contract. We are very excited about this project since, for the first time, we are building a suite of telecoms application based around Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4. This will put us in an even stronger position in the CRM market."
Ascent Software was founded in 2003 and today employs 35 ICT specialists.
