Joseph Said has been appointed chairman of Heritage Malta, succeeding Mario Tabone who has been offered the post of chairman of the Strategic Committee for the European Cultural City of the Year.
Dr Tabone, who led the state heritage agency for the last five years, is considering the offer.
Valletta and Amsterdam have been chosen by the European Union to be the European Cultural Capitals in 2018.The aim of this initiative is to bring European peoples closer to each other through culture.
Mr Said has been Lombard Bank Malta CEO for the past 10 years and Maltapost chairman since last year.
The other members of the Malta Heritage board are Isabelle Vella, vice chairman, Evelyn Baluci, Marika Grech, Anthony Bonanno, John Cremona, Martin Mercieca, Norma Camilleri and Bryan Magro.
