I would like to thank the Marsascala Shop Owners Association for bringing to light the way the parish priest and the Curia treated them just because they were going to start a series of concerts in Marsascala in the week when the Church celebrates the parish feast there.

I think Reuben Buttigieg, who heads the association, had every reason to feel shocked and disappointed with the way the Marsascala parish priest responded to his invitation to discuss the matter.

How could the parish priest refuse to welcome wholeheartedly and without any delay the request of the representative of the association in his locality to discuss such a very urgent matter considering that there was not much time left for the association to decide whether or not to go ahead with the already announced concert and taking into account the expenses involved?

The parish priest's strategy of telling the representative to contact the Curia amounted to a delaying tactic. So much for Church talk of understanding, dialogue, cooperation, collaboration etc!

This incident should serve as an eye-opener for all those who have to deal on any such matter with certain parish priests and the Curia powers that be.
