Melita Marine Group, super yacht service providers and marina operators throughout the Mediterranean, announced the appointment of 17 heads for its subsidiary companies. Pierre Balzan is general shareholder and chairman in each company of the Group.
The Group has recently embarked on a restructuring exercise to reorganise its operations and consolidate business in Malta and across its vast-owned Mediterranean network in preparation for long-term growth and new acquisitions in the yachting industry.
"This is an exciting time for Melita Marine Group as it prepares to invest in capital expenditure and expand its infrastructure in Malta and the rest of the Mediterranean where the Group has already established a good position," Mr Balzan said. "The Group, founded in 1989, has been growing at a steady pace registering a consistent growth. The Group is now looking forward to take on larger projects to meet the increasing demands in the sector and demanding clients."
The Melita Marine group of companies offers a wide range of marine services under one roof, from yacht refits, marina management, fuel supplies, yacht/charter brokerage and supplies of all kinds to the super yacht industry. Its strategically-placed offices all around the Mediterranean coast - Italy, Sicily, France, Tunisia, England and Croatia, and developing in Spain, Sardinia, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Egypt and Gibraltar - enable the Group to cater for all a yacht captain's and owner's needs throughout the major Mediterranean yachting zones.
Melita Marine is the operator of the Manoel Island Marina with facilities for berthing of yachts from 8m to 150m. The marina boasts 120 berths on pontoons, 54 berths for super yachts above 24m, one alongside berth for an 80m to 150m super yacht and hard-standing facilities for yachts of up to 20 tons and slots for up to 60 yachts. The Group is also sole distributor for some of the most prestigious names in the manufacturing of luxury yachts like Ferretti, Pershing, Riva, Mochi and Sessa.
"Over the past 10 years super yachts increased by 80 per cent worldwide and are expected to almost triple within two years," Mr Balzan said. "This goes to show that the yachting industry, which generates big business and is good news for Malta as for the rest of the Mediterranean, is still in development. With a skilled workforce personnel of over 100 in specialised fields and a regional network to support any super yacht, irrespective of its size and location and turning over millions of euros, Melita Marine is in growth mode to expand with the industry and maximise potential. Our regional reach also allows Melita Marine to give a service of excellence to the most of the high net worth individuals in the world. It was also decided that head office and back office operation will remain in Malta."
