Opposition Leader Charles Mangion yesterday accused the government of incompetence when dealing with EU funds.

He said that while the government had projected to bring in €116 million this year, it has only managed to secure €12 million in the first six months of the year. He said the country was falling behind in bringing in a funds from the EU because of lack of administrative efficacy, which was hindering the country's economic development.

Dr Mangion pointed out that Malta had to contribute €5 million a month to the EU and this was negatively affecting the country's financial situation.
