The local branch of the Educational and Technical Institute of Karate, led by Franco Azzopardi, recently hosted top Japanese karate instructor Takeshi Naito for a seminar in Malta.
Naito has already visited the country before. During the course, he shared his karate methods with local martial artists. Naito has been instructing and coaching in Italy for almost three decades now and although he is almost 60, his expertise remains intact.
Naito is a graduate of Komazawa University Karate and is currently in charge of the national kumite (sparring) teams of Italy's FIKTA and JKA organisations. He holds five black belts with different top karate organisations, all from seventh dan (degree) or higher.
