Labour's spokesman for the environment and national heritage, Roderick Galdes said yesterday that the scheduling of the Lija belvedere and the buffer zone around it confirms the inconsistencies and lack of consultation with regard to the Local Plans approved by the government in 2006.

Controversy over an application for a block of flats in Transfiguration Avenue, where the belvedere is situated, came to an end last week when Mepa decided that buildings nearby could not exceed two storeys in height.
